Personally, I don’t think I know anyone that hasn’t been touched by the state of our economy. As President and CEO of ElderCare at Home I am even more aware of how it is affecting Palm Beach County seniors and those needing home care and geriatric care management services. I encourage my staff to be cost conscience and my management team to run a right ship. But I’ve struggled with how I can help my caregivers?
Almost every day we get telephone calls from caregivers that are searching for private duty care, companion care or CNA/HHA services. Sometimes they want a bath visit or respite care. I am thrilled that they are reaching out and devastated when the reason they say no is that they “can’t afford it”. Caregivers must have the ability to not only get the care their loved one needs, but to get the respite care they deserve.
To that end, I’ve decided to reduce the rates that we charge for all of our private duty home care services. It means ElderCare at Home will run an even tighter ship and that some of the perks the staff has come to expect might be delayed, but we unanimously agree that during this touch economic climate, if we can help a caregiver or a family member by providing them with cost effective care and quality services, we will make a positive difference in the lives of the patients and families we serve.
