Tuesday Tips for Caregivers – Exercising While Caregiving
It is vital to you, and your loved one that you keep your health, mind, and body fit. We know how crucial it is to have a few moments for yourself throughout your caregiving day and we want to add how beneficial it can also be to maintain a good exercise routine. As a caregiver, you may find that positions for showering, dressing, and getting into bed for your loved one can be not as easy as it was when you were in grade school.
Here are some good ideas to “exercise while you caregive”:
Stretch – take the time to stretch in the morning before each day begins. Stretch your arms, legs, back and neck. You will thank yourself later! You can even have your loved one join in with you!
Take “Stress Buster” Breaks – put dad in a wheelchair and take a brisk walk through the neighborhood. Walking releases toxins and helps alleviate stress. Listen to soothing music and try deep breathing exercises while your loved one is napping. You can also try yoga and meditation.
Eat Healthy – make sure through out the day to eat healthy and drink plenty of water. Try making a lunch filled with fresh fruits, vegetables, and protein. This combination will provide you with an energy boost to push through the rest of your day.
Try implementing these 3 categories into your Caregiving Routine everyday and see how you feel at the end of the week!
We assure you will feel relaxed, refreshed, and renewed for the following week ahead.
